Sharon Arts "Teacher Tuesday" Professional Development series continues this winter beginning on February 17th
Local artist and teacher Connie Gray to lead the workshop "Polymer for the Classroom"

SHARON, N.H. --- Sharon Arts Center, a non-profit arts organization committed to connecting the community with the arts, announced that Hancock artist Connie Gray will be featured in Sharon Arts Teacher Tuesday Professional Development series. This workshop will take place on February 17th from 4-6:30 pm at the School of Art and Craft in Sharon.

The "Teacher Tuesday" Professional Development series is designed to empower teachers through art experiences. This workshop - "Polymer for the Classroom" - will focus on how to illustrate classroom stories and projects by creating visual representations out of polymer clay. Great for dioramas or illustrating characters from books, historical events, etc. The technique can also emphasize visual characteristics of science projects.

Connie Gray, who has been a teacher at Sharon Arts for over 10 years, says that this very "hands-on" polymer clay technique will get you to "return to the child in you, and play with clay! You'll learn how to create little figures or creatures out of this colorful medium, bake them, and make your own scene or 'playset.'" This is an excellent teaching medium to make detailed models or to illustrate new concepts.

Participants will receive a certificate of attendance, helpful to teachers looking to earn credits and points towards their re-certification. This workshop is open to the public and is especially geared towards teachers, homeschool parents, activity coordinators, and others in the community looking to add new tools to their pedagogical toolkit.

The cost of the workshop is $25 for Sharon Arts members and $35 for all others. The tuition fee includes refreshments and all materials for the activity. To register or get further information about the Teacher Tuesdays Professional Development Series, call Sharon Arts School of Art and Craft at (603)924-7256.
