Free Workshop - Learn to Needle Felt an Ornament
Saturday, December 6th from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at Sharon Arts Downtown Galleries

Peterborough, NH - Sharon Arts Center, a non-profit arts organization, is pleased announce that fiber artist Ella Rank will be hosting a free mini-workshop at the Downtown Galleries in Depot Square. The mini-workshop will take place on Saturday, December 6th, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Participants will have a chance to try needle felting and will leave the mini-workshop with a completed pine cone ornament. Supplies will be provided, courtesy of SAC faculty member and juried member artist, Ella Rank.

Rank has worked with traditional yarn and fabric for all of her life. While living and working in England eight years ago, she fell in love with the ever-present sheep that roamed in tidy herds. At a fiber festival in Birmingham, she discovered the fleece of the Wensleydale sheep - and was hooked on their uniquely silky, curly long wool. Back in New Hampshire, five years ago she decided to recreate the sheep - as pets without vets. In addition, she devised a way to use the fleece straight from the sheep. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination - and the technique lets you carry your work with you wherever you wish.

Rank has been sharing her sheep in the Downtown Galleries and with students at the school on Route 123 in Sharon for over three years. Her next workshop "Sleep on a Sheep" will be held on January 31st, 2009 from 10am to 3pm. Tuition is $70 for members and $90 for non-members. Call 603-924-7256 to register. Space is limited.

The Sharon Arts Downtown Gallery is located in Depot Square in Downtown Peterborough. Store hours are Monday - Thursday 10am to 6pm, Friday 10am to 7pm, Saturday 10am to 6pm, Sundays 11am - 4pm, and First Fridays 10am to 8pm (first Friday of each month).

NOTE Gallery hours will be extended during the holiday season beginning December 14th through December 23rd: Open 7 days a week 10 am - 7 pm, Wednesday, December 24th (Christmas Eve) 10 am - 3 pm.





The mission of Sharon Arts Center, a non-profit organization, is to support and serve artists and craftspeople, to engage the community in the artistic process, and to foster the relationship between artists and the community through education, exhibitions, the promotion and sale of art and craft, as well as through special programs and events.
