During August and September, Sharon Arts Downtown Galleries will feature a show entitled "Home and Retreat", featuring the collaborative work of emerging artists who live and work in the Monadnock Region as well as those who travel from all over to work here. The exhibit will offer multiple forms of artistic expression including performances by local musicians.
Featured artists: Alison Fritz, Rachel Garceau, Eric Gagne, Aimee LaRue, Christopher Myott, Ben Putnam, Noah Sparkes, Erin Sweeney, Kat Thorpe, Liza Twery, Rachael Wheeler, Dana Wood, Mike Wrobel, Albert Zuger, and the Big Front Room Collective (BFR): mary d. goldthwaite, Frank Mann, Sarah Pupo, Mishayla Greist Schmidt and Danielle Wood. The show's curators selected this theme as a natural extension of themes that they (and the other featured artists) have continued to explore in their own work. mary d. goldthwaite, originally from South Hampton, NH, lives and teaches high school art in Peterborough, NH. Her work has been exhibited internationally. Candice Cassella has called many places her home and has studied in Florence, Italy. She is currently a gallery associate for the Sharon Arts Exhibition Gallery. The show will open on Friday, August 1st and will run through September 27th. Gallery hours are Tues-Thurs 10-6; Fri 10-7; Sat 10-6; Sun 11-4. Closed Mondays. The Gallery is located at 30 Grove Street in Peterborough. Ample parking in Depot Square. Opening Reception will be held on Friday, Aug. 1st from 5 to 7 pm. Public is welcome, admission is free. Special performances by local indie groups will be held during the exhibit run (admission is free): Saturday, August 2nd 3-5 pm: Girlpool - featuring Nyiko Beguin and Ethan McBrian. Girlpool offers smooth acoustic riffs with soft laid harmonies; Lonesome Lake - featuring singer/songwriter Gregory George Moore, bassist Jeffrey James Murphy, and violinist Bjorn DelaCruz. Friday, September 5th 6-8 pm: Redwing Blackbird - an acoustic duo from the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire consisting of Austin Wright and Eric Gagne; Tell Stories with Christine Hayward - guitar duo Tell Stories plays heart-wrenching harmonies and will perform with indie folk singer Christine Hayward. |
