Graduate Scholarships, Loans, and Assistantships

Looking for scholarships to help support pursuit of your graduate degree, or wondering how to make your graduate study even more affordable? We know that financial aid is a key part of your college planning process, and our Financial Aid Office will help you along through every step of the way.

Types of Aid

Merit Scholarships

The New Hampshire Institute of Art offers a range of merit scholarships to MFA students. Awards are given based on the strength of your portfolio, essay, and transcripts, and we’ll tell you about any aid offerings when you receive your acceptance letter.

Loans

Graduate level students are also eligible for unsubsidized Federal Stafford loans. These low-cost, fixed rate loans are available to students regardless of your credit. To apply, fill out the FASFA. Loan offerings will be detailed in your financial aid package.

Assistantships

Graduate Assistantships are paid opportunities available to all second- and third-term MFA students. Gain hands-on experience completing special projects in your area of interest, or find yourself tutoring undergraduate students, conducting research in the Teti Library’s Special Collections, or working with our Admission Office.

Graduate Assistantships have a maximum allotment of five hours per week over a fifteen-week period. All full-time MFA students are eligible to apply via email or in person before or during your residency.  For questions about assistantships or to apply, contact Career Services at careerservices@nhia.edu.

How to Apply for Financial Aid

Applying for financial aid at the New Hampshire Institute of Art is as simple as filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA), using NHIA’s federal financial aid code of 031823.

Submit your form by March 1st to be considered for all of our aid programs. Students may still qualify for more limited aid options after that deadline.
