Campus Notification/Emergency Messaging System
New Hampshire Institute of Art (NHIA) uses a text-based messaging system which allows students, staff and faculty to receive notifications of school closure, delays, and emergencies. To subscribe to the NHIA text service by texting the keyword NHINSTITUTE to 41411.
Weather-Related Cancellations and Delays
In the event of snowstorms or other serious weather events, the cancellation decision for morning, early afternoon or all classes will be made by 7:00 am that day, if at all possible. If a “no-school” announcement is not made, it means that classes are being held or that a decision has not yet been made. In the event of middle-of-the-day decisions, every effort will be taken to make and disseminate the decision at least 1½ hours before class time. In the event of a weather-related cancellation your instructor will schedule a make-up day.

Campus Emergency Response and Immediate Warning
NHIA, in accordance with the Higher Education Opportunity Act, will “immediately notify the campus community upon the confirmation of a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of students or staff.” Warnings may only be withheld if they compromise efforts to contain the emergency. Warnings are to be issued without delay following confirmation of an emergency. The NHIA Director of Security will provide timely warnings to faculty, staff, and students as required.
