Karen Mayeu founded Grey Cat Design in 2001 and after more than 10 years of producing award-winning work, she turned her attention to teaching. She began passing on her knowledge and skills to the next generation of designers through workshops and continuing education classes. In 2012, she joined the adjunct faculty of the New Hampshire Institute of Art (NHIA), followed by a similar role at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU). She champions the design process and the development of her students’ own personal style within design’s visual language and principles.
Karen received her BFA from The College of St. Rose in Albany, NY and her MS in Marketing from SNHU, along with a certificate in Integrated Marketing Communications from SNHU. She is a member of the University & College Designers Association (UCDA), the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) and the New Hampshire Creative Club (NHCC), currently serving as the vice president.
Karen’s work through her company Grey Cat Design, has been honored with American Graphic Design Awards (GD USA) and by the New Hampshire Creative Club. She is also published as the designer for the Amoskeag Journal, SNHU’s Literary Journal (now called Assignment) for more than eight years.
Karen Mayeu lives in Pembroke, NH with her husband and twin daughters.
